Solar Power is energy of sun which can be used to generate heat or electricity. It is fumeless, noise less and renewable (unlike coal and other fossil fuels which take years to renew, the Sun shines every day).
There is a pressing need to accelerate the development of advanced clean energy technologies in order to address the Global challenges of energy security, climate change and sustainable development. Solar Photo Voltaic is a key technology option to realise the shift to a decarbonised energy supply and is projected to emerge as an attractive alternate electricity source in the future.
Electricity can be produced directly from Photovoltaic, PV Cells. [Photovoltaic means “Light and Electric”]. These cells are made from materials which exhibit the” Photovoltaic Effect”. It means, when sunshine hits the PV Cell, the photos of light excite electrons in the cell and cause them to flow, generating Electricity.
Solar Cells are devices that convert light energy directly into electrical energy. In these cells, there are semiconductors (Silicon Alloys and other materials). You may have seen small solar cells on Calculators, and even larger arrays are used to power satellite in Orbit around Earth. Solar Cells are also called Photovoltaic cells or PV devices.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) devices, or Solar Cells, Change sunlight directly into electricity. Small PV cells can Power Calculators, watches and other small electronic devices. Arrangement of many solar cells in PV Panels and arrangement of multiple PV Panels in PV arrays can produce electricity for an entire house. Some PV Power Plants have large arrays that cover many acres to produce electricity for thousands of homes.
The creation of solar energy requires little maintenance. Once the Solar Panels have been installed and are working at maximum efficiency there is only a small amount of maintenance required each year to ensure they are in working order.
